Behavioural Analysts Dresden

The psychologist and emotion researcher Prof. Dr Paul Ekman revolutionised the understanding of the interplay between emotion and expression in the 1970s through the discovery and systematisation of facial microexpressions. Since then, even the smallest facial expressions can be analysed to examine the emotional background and, above all, the truthfulness of a statement. A promising method, as every person lies. Microexpressions reveal the truth. They mostly occur unnoticed within fractions of a second and can only be controlled with a great deal of disciplined training.

Our approach to analysing microexpressions and other behavioural features is similar to an interrogation. After a conversation with the person under examination, the resulting video material is subjected to a thorough review, usually with a clear outcome.

Of course, the analysis of microexpressions is not infallible. In criminology and law, there are no conclusive proofs. Even a confession must, at least in theory, be supported by additional evidence or indications to secure a conviction.

Kurtz Investigations Dresden also incorporates body language and vocal behaviour into the analysis to safeguard the overall result.
